Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) is called the plant of immortality in Ayurveda. Legend tells that even elephants, considered long living and wise animals, chew it to maintain sharp memory and longevity.
According to clinical studies and Western medicine, gotu kola may improve cognitive function and memory, mainly in older adults.
It was also found that the plant supports blood vessel health and reduces signs of venous insufficiency, such as prominent veins. Additional studies show potential in reducing anxiety and improving mood.
The plant has also been found effective in wound healing and tissue regeneration, thanks to triterpenoid compounds found in it.
